Firelands Symphony OrchestraThe Sandusky Concert Association is proud to be the guest artist sponsor for the Firelands Symphony Orchestra's concert on February 23, 2019. The full orchestra will be joined by Grammy-nominated violinist Andres Cardenes.

The Cuban-born Cardenes won Second Prize in the 1982 Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition in Moscow, Russia. Since then, he has appeared as a soloist with over 100 orchestras on four continents. Cardenes has garnered international acclaim from critics and audiences alike. His extensive repertoire of more than 100 works extends from historical classics to works by modern-day composers.

Cardenes has served on the faculty of several universities, and is currently Distinguished Professor of Violin Studies and the Dorothy Richard Starling / Alexander Speyer Jr. Endowed Chair at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Music. He also regularly conducts master classes at numerous universities and conservatories across the United States.
